Dear Parishioners and Guests,
Me thinks that the “babcke lito” or as we call it in Canada, “Indian summer” will have disappeared by the time this bulletin is printed. We actually turned on the heat in church now – could not
do it last week when it was 27 above outside… Truly we have been blessed and now time for a regular autumn season… Enjoy, enjoy!
Two announcements that definitely keep you “in the know”:
If, by chance, you picked up the Sept. 30th issue of Progress, our archeparchial bi-monthly religious newspaper, then cherish it as this is the last printed copy of our paper. This religious newspaper did not receive the regular government grant and the subscriptions for some years now do not cover the cost of producing it. I am sorry that this paper will no longer be available. It truly was a source of ‘info’ for our church.
Secondly, Fr. Volodymyr whom you all have come to love and admire returned to Ukraine for an extended vacation. His Provincial Father Ihor has informed us that he will remain in Ukraine – which is our loss and Ukraine’s gain! We appreciate his time with us. He learned English quite well and was acclimatizing to our Canadian culture. Unfortunately, he will no longer be with us – so do pray for him and his ministry.
Of course, we all know this is Thanksgiving weekend – a wonderful time for all of us to stop and truly be grateful for the many blessings we have been so fortunate to receive – by either being born as a Canadian or becoming one! Please don’t make
this “just a long weekend”! I would love to see so very many of you praying and “giving thanks” in church on this day. We have scheduled our Thanksgiving Liturgy at 9:30 am. Now you can sleep in and still join us in our “Home of Worship”.
Our Religious Education programs will be in full swing next Sunday – with regular Catechism for all our children at 10:00-11:00 am and then our young families can join us at the Divine Liturgy at 11:00 am. This is most convenient – remember in the old days – Catechism was on Saturday morning and then you would have to come back on Sunday to pray with the parish. Now together we learn, we pray and we grow!
The Adult Religious program that was a great success also commences next
Sunday, the 14th from 10:00-11:00 am. The same presenter Nicky Gumbel will feature a new series entitled “The Jesus Lifestyle”. He is inspiring, knowledgeable and also has a great sense of humour! Do come again and bring a friend. Let us grow in faith!
Welcome back to St. Joseph’s! Cottages are mostly closed! We can
now gather together to ‘give much thanks‘ each and every Sunday!
